La Coupole

Went to La Coupole on a rainy August night. We hadn't booked but were asked to wait at the bar. It only took about ten minutes to get a table and we had a great meal. The staff were fine-if a bit sarcastic when we said that we didn't want an alcoholic drink-but apart from that we were looked after really well. Bought some of their crockery for a gift for a friend back home and it was beautifully wrapped for us.
One word of caution-if you choose the seafood platter make sure that you are VERY hungry or share it with someone!
If you are in Paris give it a go.

Just returned from Paris having dined at La Coupole, a return visit to this restaurant after ten years.The good points were far outweighed by the bad.
The good points were great bustling atmosphere and wonderful interior decor
The bad were;
1) Pre-booked on Internet, called in at the restaurant to confirm booking was OK.....no booking. Manager took a note then and made a booking for us that evening. Returned in the evening to be told yes, you've guessed it, no booking. We waited for 30 minutes to get a table
2) Service incredibly slow and surly.
3) Pouilly Fume served warm!!
4) Food took ages and cannot be described as any thing other than average
