The worst meal I can remember in a long time.

Waiters were fun, but my lamb tasted like mutton and my meal was luke warm. The roast potatoes tasted like they had been reheated and I'd swear my companion's russian salad was out of a tin.

Atmosphere was great but we left hungry and went for dessert somewhere else.

For the quality, the food was way over-priced.

Why is this palce so popular?? Case of "Emperor's new clothes" here.

We were just there this weekend.

Great setting and the food was prepared well.

We were also surprise that the four of us spent only €90; WITH two bottles of wine and two Kir Royale.

Having read a lot about this place, made it an obligatory stop in Paris this week. Serious mature waiters, prompt service, not very attentive though. Being not aware of French descriptions, pointed out two most expensive fish courses (E 13 and 10), two "crevette" starters, one appeared to be half avocado with a spoon of tomato-garlic-ground shrimp shell sauce (E 3.50) and 8 shelled tiny shrimp (E 2.80). Both mains I would have cooked better by just pan frying. The "crème Chatillon" dessert was like whipping cream out of the spray (E 2.20) and orange sorbet (E 4.50) was nicely frozen inside the orange shell, too firm for the spoon, concentrated and rich. Yes, the baggage shelves as in a railway car. Yes, the atmosphere of one century behind. Spent E 40 without wine and left hungry.

I recommend this restaurant to everyone. It`s cheap, the food is good (especially the paté), the service is very good. I recommend to go there at around 6 or 6:30 pm, because after you`ll have a big line-up before you.

Chartier is not just a restaurant but an experience. The wine was good, the food was filling. The only minus was the toilets, but who's bothered when everything else was wonderful. I'll be returning very soon for seconds.

Wdenesday 22nd. February.

An all consuming ambiance and an experience not to be missed. The food and wine were more than adequate for the price and the staff while being busy managed to make you feel at home. This is the most extraordinary of Parisian restaurants, with memories of times gone by and times still to come.

we would reccomend it highly for this reason!

We loved it and will return asap for the experience of going back about 75 Parisian years. Thank you to all the hard working waiters and waitresses.
