Le Devez

While in Paris for NYE 06-07 with my boyfriend, we were looking for a stylish cozy place for dinner and came across Le Devez in the 8th arr. Definitely not disappointed with our choice!

The place - cozy warm interiors, very well designed, with little corners and alcoves to give that intimate restaurant feeling, though it is not that small. Furnishings are rich and warm in colour, lovely on cold winter nights! Differently set tables.. some are round, others with sofas. And a stylish bar area. Very well designed.

The staff - Very friendly and helpful. Perfect spoken English (very welcome if youre hopeless in French). Smart and well-dressed (and good looking if i may add!). Well trained, complete with sommelier.

The food - What can i say! Well presented, well cooked, well served! Varied menu, with a few usual basics, but mostly for the adventuruous - dishes with a difference. Had a mixed platter for starters with lovely oriental bites and a few typical French pates and foies etc. Mains are well cooked, with lovely sauces. Do ditch the usual french fries though, it doesnt do justice to the place. Desserts look like a dream though i was too full to have any :(

The view - if you're there to impress your girl or for the total experience, then eat across the road with a splendid view of Eiffel Tower, but do expect to be charged twice as much just for the view. If you're happy with good food, good company, good ambience and good service, then the view can wait til you walk out of the place.

The price - at 100Euros for two people, starters, main and wine, it's a good deal at such a place.

The verdict? I'd give it 8.5 for ambience, 8 for food, 8.5 for service.
