your comments review this restaurant

Five years ago I visited Brasserie Mollard with four companions. I thought the decor was amazing, in a very elaborate way. The food was good and the service was helpful, friendly and efficient.

I was looking forward to a return visit two nights ago. There were three of us and I called into the restaurant in the late afternoon to book a table. When we arrived in the evening, our booking had not been written down. The restaurant was busy and we were seated in a rather empty, tatty area with plain pink decor, grubby carpet and some of the tables (not ours) had folding chairs. Our view of the main part of the restaurant was annoyingly blocked by a laden coatstand. The waiter who took our order was not particularly helpful or friendly and only told us which items were no longer available whilst we were ordering and was rather impatient when we then had to reconsider our choices. The waiter who served us was efficient and pleasant and the food was tasty and reasonable value for money. We had a pleasant evening and I would come again, but only to sit in the main part of the restaurant, as I think atmosphere is important.
