We booked a table here and were very disappointed with what we got. The menu offered little variety (out of the 4 starters 3 were fish) and limited choices across the menu.

We were shown the bottle of wine Chateuneuf at our table, it then disappeared from the table & was decanted back of house & bought to the table - so we have no certainity that what we ordered was what we got.. Normally we see the bottle being decanted at the table in the restaurants we use anywhere in the world

The starter squid risotto was stodgy and tasteless. We were shocked when the squid ink shot across the plate when the fork went into the squid.

We was advised the pigeon main course should be eated blue even though we wanted it medium rare/rare. t came to the table it was bordering on raw, and despite asking them to cook it a bit more when it came back there was very little difference. Most of the pidgeon was left and my girlfriend felt so ill at the time she was unable to complete the meal. Later both diners that had the pidgeon were ill and up through the night and the next day - with what we can only describe as the symptoms of food poisoning.

All in all a very disappointing meal and the service also left alot to be desired. The waiters were particularly unhelpful in explaining the menu and their manner was rather arrogant. We ad to repeatedly ask for our bill and wait for almost 20 minutes before it was brought despite the fact that a number of waiters were milling around. A very expensive meal but utterly disappointing.

Regularly cited as one of the best restaurants in Paris, Helene Darozze offers a more informal dining experience in the Salon area if one cannot stretch to the fine dining area (which has a reputation for "suits" anyway) which is the place I ate. The menu is in the form of "tapas" and is much like a tasting menu filled with the ususal good things - oysters, foie gras, langoustine etc, and offers a great introduction to her sophisticated cuisine without breaking the bank. Book ahead as this is a very popular restaurant and deservedly so. Charming and courteous service.
