Le Loir dans la Théière

A beautiful cafe with excellent cakes and a traditionally french lunch menu. Do not miss the goats cheese and mint omelette or the homemade tarte.
One of those places you don't want to recommend because you want it to be your secret.

Perhaps the worst service I have ever received - disgusting, weak, lukewarm tea and overpriced cakes - and a waiter who is happy to argue with his customers. Appalling - never go to Le Loire dans La Theiere.

Absolutely appalling. The rudest French waiters ever , the slowest service and the worst tea.We asked for a non-smoking area and received the gallic "phwaa" and roll of the eyes. We waited 15 minutes to be served without any charm. When the tea came it was , for two of us , weak and tepid and for the third member completely wrong. He had asked for Darjeeling and it smelt of vanilla. It took another 5 minutes to call the waiter , virtually shouting to get his attention and he insisted it was Darjeeling. "No , it isn't - I always have Darjeeling and this is not!" (all in perfect French) "But this is our Darjeeling..." he insisted. Further arguments before he reluctantly agreed to take it back. He came back after another 5 minutes saying someone in the kitchen was wrong - it had been vanilla tea.No apologies , no admission that we were correct. On top of that the bill was 13.50 euros for 3 dreadful teas. but we did leave a tip - one penny.
