I went there for my 30th - also had an excellent experience with outstanding food in lovely surroundings (and we weren't even under the coupole).
Would highly recommend. I read a Time Out review that was a bit snooty about Bofinger, but take no notice: it's a class act.

I had brunch here yesterday. The food was more than I could eat, and very nice. Service was simply great. I had a 3 course meal for 30 euro which I consider a very good price for the meal that was served.

I took my then boyfriend (now husband) to this restaurant for his 30th birthday, and I could not more highly recommend it. It was suggested by a foodie colleague who had previously lived in Paris and fulfilled all my expectations.
The food was fabulous (wonderful mushroom and truffle starter), the service spot on, and the setting just lovely. As a Londoner used to the extortion of food prices in that city it was also a refreshing experience to go to a very very good quality restuarant, have a 3 course meal and excellent wine and still walk out having spent less than a £100. It does get very busy so do book ahead, but don't worry it doesn't feel crowded or cramped.
Be aware that the menu is all in French so if you're likely to struggle bring a dictionary! But it really is very much worth it - particularly for a special occassion. As very regular travellers who put much store by the places we eat we still talk about this place many years later!

This is a great choice for a late evening meal- champagne, fois gras, oysters, in wonderful setting under "la coupole". Can't miss..Great service and atmosphere.
