Au Vieux Paris

Every time I visit Paris I come to this restaurant. I look forward to going back to Paris each year just so I can eat here! It's romantic, well located, quiet and I get great service from Jose. George and Odette have even personally come to the table to say Hello, though I am not sure they remember that I've been coming for several years now. :)
Take your time with this place, it's meant to be enjoyed slowly. You will feel plenty full afterwards. Their house red wine is fantastic and I keep trying to convince them to sell me a bottle to take home!
I have loved everything I have tried on the menu, but I personally would recommend taking Odette's sampling menu. It's mainly a surprise what you will get, but I think that adds to the experience. My favourite table, the one my boyfriend and I always sit at, is the one to the very right of the stairs upstairs, under a window.
I will be visiting there in a couple days with a larger group this time, so I will get to try a different cozy section of the restaurant.
Please try to eat there just once in your life!

This restaurant is one of the most delightful places in Paris. The food is wonderful originating from the area of Averyron with is rich in fresh natural foods and their signature is the beef stew( Aubrac ) dishes. They have other wonderful specialties such as the foi gras that is amazing as well as the yummy chicken leg dish. Order the desert, la chocolate- ooh la la!
They are very charming and you feel like you have come to have dinner with friends! Georges and Odette are the wonderful owners and Frederick and Jose, the waiters are absolutely entertaining!
The 'wine list" is actually a cellar where you go down the funny little stairs to choose your favorite vintage. It is really fun.
The restaurant has several rooms that are decorated beautifully and each quite different. The location is marvelous, next to Notre Dame and from the top floor you can see the tower of the cathedral!
They are kind to Americans and actually all people-- none of this Parisian snobbery....
If you want to experience a special culinary treat .... don't miss it!

We went to this restaurant on sunday 6 september. We were very disappointed. We went there about 6.00 pm a bit early but we had to leave for home (holland). I asked them not to serve the food too fast. Within one hour we had left the restaurant with a very unpleasant feeling.
We started with a shared marvelous entree just so mouthwatering good. Straight after we had finished this entree we had our maincourse. I had the beef bourgogne, what a letdown after such a good entree. My beef bourgogne was put on the table as a grey smurry with a few hardboiled potatoes straight out of the water on a plate the water was still on the plate. No salad no vegetables, nothing. I asked for vegetables and I did get mashed potatoes.
My partner had a chickenleg with fried potatoes and vegetables and this was good.
Straight after the main they asked if we would like desert. After this debacle I did not want anything anymore. And within 30 seconds we had our bill on the table. Very unhospitable.
