Chez Ma Cousine
your comments review this restaurant
Early on a Monday evening had found a few first choice restaurants closed and due to time constraints and based on it's reasonably priced menu we decided to give Chez Ma Cuisine a whirl and boy were we disappointed...
From the moment we arrived the loud and obnoxious manager took phonecall after phonecall seemingly increasing in volume and irritability throughout our starter. When he wasn't talking he was drumming his hands on the bar. We had two unattentive waiters... one in fact threw the menu at our table without even a hello or bonjour.
My starter was the patè which I decided must have been plated up the night before as my 8th of tomato had caved in on itself through evaporation and the lettuce had wilted... luckily the mini gherkins were pickled but they took al dente to a new level and tasted nothing like a gherkin should taste. My partner had the vegetable soup which was nice but it's very difficult to mess up a vegetable soup. The starter was acompanied by a basket of stale bread.
As our starter neared completion we found that the staff were settling in to have their own dinners and as they tore into their fresh bread I couldn't help noticing the chef peeking at us through the corner of his eye as if waiting for us to get up and leave... and I wont deny it crossed my mind!
To cut a long story short I had chicken and chips which was good and my lady friend had lasagne which was about 95% pasta with no garnish whatsoever.
The bought in ice-cream was the highlight of the desserts while the bought in apple tart was a waste of an apple.
Made to feel almost rude to interrupt their dinner so I could get the bill from them and without so much as a thankyou or goodbye as we left the restaurant I could easily say that I would probably rather eat in a greasy spoon cafe in the scummy bit in Glasgow than eat in there ever again.
