Taillevent
our comments
The only complaint anyone could have about Taillevent is that it is too crowded with internationals because it is so popular and with good reason. Head Chef Alain Solivérès has honed his culinary expertise under some of the most brilliant minds in cooking and now brings what he has learned to the tables of Taillevent with fantastic results. While the food is fantastic many will be drawn to Tallievent for their choice of wines. Their cellar contains over 25,000 bottles stored at optimal conditions.- October 2004

We wanted to experience Haute Cuisine in Paris and eventually decided on Taillevent. We were not let down especially having just been extremely disappointed at Hakkasan, another Michelin starred restaurant.
The service was impeccable. The staff were friendly and attentive and the food was of the highest quality. We particularly enjoyed the starters and desserts which were exquisite.
We had an enjoyable time and would definitely recommend it!

Pure class.
The setting, the service, the food: everything is faultless.
Sadly the owner, Mr Jean-Claude Vrinat (son of the founder) passed away in January 2008.
He was a man of great finesse, very humble and with a great sense of humour.
I have been back since and I am happy to say that his team led by his daughter are doing him very proud.
They lost their third Michelin star last year but don't let this deter you.
I am convinced it will come back soon.
If you want to experience a top French table just once, then Taillevent should be your choice.

We went to Taillevent for the 31 December, having been to quite a few "top" restaurants around the world in the past few years (e.g., Petrus in London), and I have to say that Taillevent was beyond expectation: the service was impeccable, and the building and rooms are amazing / magestic. The atmosphere was most pleasant, and we felt like we were eating in the house of some very good friends. Now, the food: there aren't quite enough words to describe the food and wine, whether it was the incredible "veloute de topinambour" as the amuse-bouche, the unique epeautre risotto, the chevreuil which was so tender that the knives weren't really needed, or the "vin de muscat frappe" which ended the whole degustation menu in style. My new year's resolution is to pay Taillevent regular visits!
