La Petite Maison
your comments review this restaurant
Hurrah for La Petite Maison! The food is great, the rose goes down a treat and the customer base is orange.
To moan about the prices here (in Mayfair? with this clientele? as an offshoot of a Nicois establishment classic?) is hugely vulgar. Shame on you.

Starters were disappointing and, frankly, totally forgettable. No bread was offered, so service is not without reproach. Call me conservative but, unless it's Wagamama, I don't see why all dishes of one table cannot be brought in at the same time. We had fish for main, the turbot and sea bass were beautifully cooked and full of subtle fragrances - the highlight of the meal. The greens side dishes are not worth their price, just order the potato side dish, nice and buttery. Dessert was fine. Overall, the experience was a disappointment because so many raved about this place - it is fundamentally overpriced and not worth it!
I won't go back.

Our first time at this restaurant and hopefully not the last.
Several supremely memorable dishes included the onion tart adorned with fresh slivers of anchovies and olives, gorgeous carpaccio of octopus and scallops, green beans with sliced pate de foie gras, charcoal grilled prawns in warm olive oil , wonderfully fresh langoustines and a memorable melting pink veal chop which tasted better than can be described. All the portions were big enough to share but always leaving you wanting more until the next delight eclipsed the one before.
The creme brulee to end was stunning and could have fed a family of four. The only drawback was the clamour of noisy conversation but such great food will always attract the crowds. It's not cheap but this quality in this prime location can only be at the costly end of the market.
Having read the glowing reviews of AA Gill and Giles Coren we were expecting a treat and were not disappointed.

I simply adore this buzzy restaurant and use it about 4 times a year whether it's for dining with friends, business colleagues or clients.
Lunchtimes are generally best from a personal perspective as the cacophany adds to the allure of the place.
The food has to be the freshest in London and the starter section which serves as tapas is absolutely divine. I would always go for this option at lunchtime and in the evenings go for the alternative.
The wines are also of a quality as high as the food.
During the summer when the weather is brighter, the restaurant is flooded with extraordinary light which evokes memories of the south of France.
The service is a bit hit and miss and I put it down to the fact that the staff are constantly run off their feet with the sheer volume of diners.

Simply loved it - what a fantastic restaurant. Went there for my anniversary and the food I had was sublime (milk-fed leg of lamb for 2 people was unbelievable).
The table was great, the service excellent and I have to say that I genuinely cannot fault the place. Great, great, great....

a bunch of hoteliers are usualy the worst customers you can have in a restaurant... the guys at ma petite maison rose to the challange and we came out wowed! be it the tomatoes on the table, the great salads, the tastefulness of hte cooking and not missing the friendliness of hte staff. service was prompt and friendly, without being intrusive or arogant which can be hte case in London. look forward to my return visit.

Food had a good taste but when I finished I went to have 2 kebabs.
Atmosphere and service were nothing special.
High prices and incredible mark up on dishes. I won't go again.

I booked this restaurant for our second wedding anniversary. We got married in the South of France so I knew my husband would love it. I booked way in advance (about 2 months!) and specifically said what the occasion was when I booked it. When the restaurant rang to confirm the booking the day before they said that they had a note that it was our anniversary and would ensure a nice table.
When we arrived we were given a totally average table sandwiched between two others. We had to summon the attention of the waiting staff every time we needed something or wanted to order (we were actually laughing about it by the end) We arrived at 8pm on a Monday night and they were by no means rushed off their feet. We had to chase up two lots of drinks that we had ordered and almost felt as if we were being ignored on purpose.
The food was delicious and we can't fault that at all but just the service appalling for a restaurant in this league. As the evening went on and it got more and busy and clearly many regulars arrived they were all greated with hugely enthusiastic welcomes and a flurry of waiting staff activity but for us not a sausage! By the end of the meal I was thinking well maybe they will acknowledge our special occasion by putting a sparkler in our puddings or a glass of fizz - but alas no. In fact as we left we realised that you clearly need to be glitzy, glam, rich or famous to even get a look in and not just a couple wanting to celebrate the south of France and their special day.
