Higuma

Couldn´t disagree with the last reviewer more. Higuma is a fantasic ´cheap and cheerful´Japanese restaurant. The food is delicious, service is quick, reasonably friendly and fine. At prices around about the same as McDonalds (but for table service) what does anyone expect?
Delicious soups (although not much choice for vegetarians or non-pork eaters) & you can be in & out in under 40 minutes. Probably 30 minutes.

This place is not Japanese. It's got a Japanese name and menu terms but nothing else of the subtle, elegant Japanese style, with its emphasis on simplicity and fresh, high-quality ingredients
I had tendon donburi, which should be shrimp fried in delicate tempura batter, dipped in a tasty broth and served over rice with some spicy chili powder. The shrimp was excellent, but the batter sodden and greasy, the rice heavy and the battered zuccinini watery.
My companion's seafood with udon was a monotone of grease and pre-cooked vegetables and noodles.
If you didn't recognize that the cooking is counterfeit, the service would give it away.
