My partner and I visited the KOKPING chinese/thai restaurant in Paris on wednesday 29 August as part of our special 3 day trip to celebrate his 30th birthday celebrations.

We were greeted with a very warm welcome, given choice of table to be seated and immediately made to feel at home with a serving of nuts and crackers awaiting us at our table.

Not being wine conoisseurs, we were expertly guided by the waiter who most fortunately spoke english as our french was sadly lacking with only a few words to keep us going.

I enquired after a starter soup which was not on the menu which proved to be no problem at all to the chef to substitute on my order. The meal was served whilst every time one of the waiters passed our table, they took time to stop, enquire after our comfort and fill our wine glasses for us. We were made to feel like royalty.

We finished off our meal with once again guidance from the english speaking waiter on our choice of sweet and closure with french and irish coffees.

I also have to say the washrooms were of utmost cleanliness with individual cloth towels provided for each visitor wishing to refresh themselves.

We intend returning to Paris in March 2008 and will be "phoning ahead" to book ourselves a table this time to ensure we do not miss out.

A costly evening for us both but I have to say the cost stood up to the service, facilities and ambiance of the restaurant.
